Ed Eschmann wins "Buckeye Bash 30" at Brush Creek Motorsports
Complex
The AMRA Road Warrior Tour made it's first ever appearance at Peebles,
Ohio's Brush Creek Motorsports Complex, the western most track on
the 2005
RWT schedule. AMRA drivers from 4 states attempted to qualify for
race 11
of the '05 Road Warrior Tour schedule, most making their first ever
trip
around the aptly described "wicked fast" 3/8 mile clay tri-oval.
Front row starters Mark Dickson and Bob Crace Jr brought the 'Buckeye
Bash
30' field to life at the drop of the green flag, running nearly a
lap side
by side before Crace wrestled the lead away. The lead duo began distancing
themselves from the field before the races first caution for Kenny
Johnson's
flat tire erased their advantage. 6th starting Ed Eschmann had worked
his
way to third, and made the race for the lead a 3 car battle on the
restart.
The lead trio remained the same through a pair of single car cautions,
before the Talledega like "big one" occurred on lap 14.
Dave "Fireball" Pinkerton slapped the wall in short chute
past turn one,
climbing the rail and rolling once. As cars scattered like 10 pins,
Will
Rowe's evasive manuevers couldn't avoid contact with Pinkerton's mount,
and
Pinkerton was sent rolling again. No drivers were injured in the
frightening wreck, but at least 6 cars showed heavy body damage, with
Pinkerton, Rowe and Tim Riley's cars all retired.
When the green waved again, it was Crace holding off Dickson, Eschmann,
with
10th starting Dave McWilliams up to 4th, and Louie Krushansky rounding
out
the top 5. Dickson would bring out the caution on lap 16, as his run
would
end with a flat right rear tire. The restart allowed Eschmann to pressure
race leader Crace immediately, as the Queen City driver dove to the
low side
of the sweeping 3rd turn to take his first lead of the event on lap
19.
McWilliams used an identical move to take 2nd from Crace on lap 23,
and set
his sights on the quickly disappearing Eschmann, whose advantage over
the
field was now 12 car lengths. Despite his banzai charge, McWilliams
could
get no closer than a slim car length, as Cincinnatti, Ohio's Ed Eschmann
parked the Dave Norton owned "Carthage Auto Parts" # E1
in victory lane.
Eschmann became the 6th different driver to claim a Road Warrior Tour
win in
the '05 season, doing so in his first attempt of the year.
McWilliams was strong in his second place run, with Crace finishing
in the
final podium position. 8th starting Mike Long charged to a 4th place
finish, and Louie Krushansky's fifth place run padded his points lead
for
the '05 Road Warrior Tour crown.
6th through tenth were Benny Hickel, Kenny Johnson,
Rick Walker, Dave Defibaugh and Andre Layfield.
Mark Dickson was the 'Hassy Chassis Fast Qualifier' with a lap of
16.576
seconds around the 3/8 mile tri-oval.
Tim Roll was the recipient of the 'AERO Race Wheels Hard Luck Award'
Qualifying heat race winners were Dickson, Crace and Tommy Moore.

Greg Beem wins "K-C Rumble 30" AMRA Road Warrior Tour event
Xenia, Ohio's Greg Beem lived up to his nickname Saturday night, as
the "Xenia Tornado" blew away the competition in the AMRA Road Warrior
Tour's 10th race of the 2005 season. A field of 54 entries was whittled
down to the final starting field of 24 through 5 heats, a "C" and
"B" main.
Beem and fellow front row starter Mark Dickson paced the field
at the start of the "K-C Rumble 30", with Dickson taking the early
race lead from his pole position. He and Beem quickly began to distance
themselves from the field, both rim-riding around the fast 3/8 mile
high banks. As the leaders came to begin lap 5, Beem made his winning
move, diving low across turn 4 to take the point.
As the lead duo continued to put distance on the remainder of
the field, some outstanding action throughout the pack was taking
place. Kenny Johnson, driving the Hassy Chassis HC-1 had worked his
way into the a-main, via his c-main win, and b-main runner-up finish,
was charging from his 17th starting spot to 8th when the caution waved
for then 3rd running Doug Adkins. The following lap RWT points leader
Louie Krushansky would also be forced to join Adkins at the rear of
the field after both replaced flat tires.
On the restart Beem and Dickson once again stretched their advantage
over Will Rowe, Tommy Moore and Benny Hickel, but all eyes were riveted
on Adkins, Krushansky and Dave Defibaugh, also caught up in an early
race caution, as they worked their way to the front. 13th starting
Rick Walker was also beginning to make his presence known as he worked
on Hickel for 5th.
Johnson's charge to the front ended on lap 11, as he retired from
the event with front suspension damage. Beem started to stretch his
advantage over Dickson, who was bypassed by Moore on lap 20, with
Walker following suit 3 laps later. The events final caution waved
on lap 26, as Adkins's banzai charge to the top 5 ended as he slammed
the frontstretch wall coming off turn 4. With the field once again
bunched for the final charge to the checker, Moore threw "everything
but the kitchen sink" at race leader Beem in his effort to grab the
lead, but came up 1 1/2 car lengths short, as Beem swept both 2005
AMRA RWT events at K-C Raceway with his win. The lead duo were followed
by Walker, Dickson, and 11th starting Benny Hickle. 6th through 10th
were Defibaugh, Krushansky, Rowe, Tim Brown and 20th starting Andre
Layfield.
Qualifying heat wins were taken by Mark Dickson, Greg Beem, Doug
Adkins, Jess Hartman and Will Rowe. Kenny Johnson was the C-main winner,
and Louie Krushansky won the B-main. Mark Dickson was the "Hassy Chassis
Fast Qualifier" with a lap of 15.716. JR Nolan was named the "AERO
Wheels Hard Luck" award winner, and Doug Betts got the "Racersmate
Heartbreak Award". Provisional starters for the A-main went to Rob
House, Rodney Keefer and Tim Roll (all on RWT high points)

Peebles, Ohio's 'Brushcreek Motorsports Complex' for the running of
the inaugeral 'Buckeye Bash 30'.
Dave Defibaugh wins AMRA Road Warrior Tour "City of Beckley
30"
Dave Defibaugh became the 6th different winner of the '05 AMRA
Road Warrior
Tour season, as the Mill Creek, WV native won the Beckley (WV) Motor
Speedway's "City of Beckley 30".
Tommy Moore jumped of the pole position to lead the 30 lap events
opening
laps, before surrendering the lead on lap 4 to BMS regular J.C. Casto.
During this action, the 7th starting Defibaugh was methodically working
himself into contention, and took the point on lap 12.
This was indicative of the action throughout the field, as passing
was
plentiful throughout the entire 24 car field. Some of the races most
intense action was reserved for the 2nd half of the feature, as 8th
starting
Andre Layfield worked hard to fend off Mark Dickson and current RWT
point
leader Louie Krushansky. Additionally, B-main winner Rick Aukland
was
moving from his 19th starting position towards a top 10 finish.
With the races final caution waving on lap 24, Defibaugh braced himself
for
a 6 lap dash to the finish. Defibaugh took advantage of the hard core
action off his decklid, as his "Bob's Mini-Mart/ Hardee's Restaurants/
Lightning Chassis" # 77 led the field to the checkered flag.
The furious
final lap saw Dickson make a pass to grab 2nd from Layfield, whose
3rd place
was his best of the RWT season, and Krushansky narrowly turn back
the
rim-riding Kenny Johnson for 4th. The next five finishers were Benny
Hickel, Aukland, Phil Jeffries, Tim Riley and 2004 AMRA rookie of
the year
Robert Garnes, who rounded out the top 10.
Moore was the "Hassy Chassis Fast Qualifier", picking up
an additional
$150.00 from 'O.Z. Fabrications' as well as the normal bonus from
'Hassy
Chassis'
Winner Defibaugh also cashed in on a Beckley Motor Speedway provided
bonus,
as his pay check was fattened by $200.00, courtesy of 'J&J Fabrication'.

Mark Dickson wins Elkins Motor Speedway's AMRA Road Warrior
Tour "Summer Heat 30"
Gallipolis, Ohio's Mark Dickson won his 2nd AMRA Road Warrior
Tour event of
the '05 season, as he led flag to flag in the "Summer Heat 30"
at the
Elkin's (WV) Motor Speedway.
Dickson blasted off the front row of the 30 lap event to beat fellow
front
row starter Louie Krushansky to the first turn, and held off the 24
car
field for the races duration.
With the lead secured, the battle for 2nd became the focal point,
as RWT
point leader Krushansky fought off Dave Defibaugh, currently 2nd in
the RWT
point standings.
The caution marred event allowed Krushansky and Defibaugh to keep
pressure
on Dickson, but the Elkins area hotshoe's couldn't find the speed
necessary
to catch Dickson.
Dickson's "William's Auction Services/ Mike Martin Auto Body/
Haas Sales/

Interiors/ Boley Enterprise/ Race1/ Stu-Art signs/ Hassy Chassis"

this
possible. They've been a big part of making this work, and I really
appreciate it".

Kenny Johnson wins Tyler County Speedway's 'Dickson Classic'
AMRA Road Warrior Tour
South Parkersburg, WV's Kenny Johnson put his patented high line
to good
use, leading all 30 laps enroute to winning the 2nd annual 'Dickson
Classic'
at the Tyler County Speedway. 45 cars from 3 states attempted to make
the
24 car starting field, in the 7th event of the AMRA's 2005 Road Warrior
Tour
season.
Johnson dominated the races early laps, with the fans attention riveted
on
the battle for 5th, as JR Nolan attempted to hold off the trio of
Mark
Dickson, Louie Krushansky and Greg Beem. This, and other 3 wide battles
were
interrupted by the race's 5th and final caution on lap 21, which brought
the
field to Johnson's back bumper.
With Benny Hickel and Andy Bond filling race leader Johnson's "rear
view
mirror", the lead trio set off to decide the final outcome. Johnson
moved
his line to check Hickel's advances, and Bond stayed right off Hickel's
quarter panel. Johnson held firm, as Hickel could do no better than
finish
a car length back in 2nd, with Bond equally close, finishing third.
Dave
Defibaugh held off Mark Dickson, who rounded out the top 5. Greg Beem,
Mike
Wilson, JR Nolan, Paul Wilmoth Jr & Brent Trimble completed the
top 10. 18
of the race's 24 starters were running at the races end, all on the
lead
lap. Trophies for the top 3 finishers were provided by Carthage Auto
Parts
& the Dickson family.
This was the 2nd AMRA Road Warrior Tour win in the 2005 season for
Johnson's
"Eddy Chiropractic/ Gene's Trailer Sales/ K-Graphics/ Rapp's
Chevron/
Thrown' Dirt # 1J", and the event was the third and final leg
of the AMRA's
"Triple Crown Challenge".
The next event for the Road Warrior Tour will be July 8th at the Elkins

Mark Dickson wins Skyline Speedway's "Thunder 30"
AMRA RWT event.
Mark Dickson became the 5th different winner in 6 AMRA Road Warrior
Tour
events, as the Gallipolis, Ohio native was dominant in winning the
"Thunder
30", the 2nd of 3 legs in the AMRA RWT's "Triple Crown Challenge".
Shaking off the mechanical gremlins that have plagued his P&N
Motorsports
team for much of the early '05 season, Dickson was quick all night,
as he
set fast time and earned the feature pole position by dominating the
opening
qualifying heat race.
Dickson and Zanesville, Ohio Late Model star Rick Aukland led the
field to
starter Todd Gorrell's green flag, with the duo racing side by side
in the
30 lap feature's opening circuits, before Dickson started to motor
away.
The race for positions 3-8 was the most intense on the track, as Doug
Adkins, Sam Lovejoy, Ken Riddle, Tommy Moore and Mike Long were swapping
track and running positions nearly every trip around the smooth 3/8
mile.
With the 4th and final caution waving with just 2 laps left, Dickson's
straightaway advantage over Aukland was erased.
When the green waved for the final time, Aukland ratched up the pressure,
as
he pulled alongside the race leader and made it a dead heat at the
white
flag. As the lead duo raced onto the backstretch for the final time,
Dickson once again flexed the muscle his car had shown all night,
as his
Fannin Trucking/ Welsh Electric/ Strahler Masonary/ Mike Martin Auto
Body/
Boley Enterprise/ Stu-Art Signs/ Race1/ Hassy Chassis # 0 crossed
under the
checkered flag with a 2 car length advantage over Aukland. Kenny Riddle
worked his way under Doug Adkins on the final lap to take 3rd, with
Sam
Lovejoy rounding out the top 5. 6th through 10th were Mike Long, Tommy
Moore, JR Nolan, Andy Bond and current RWT point leader Louie Krushansky.
In his post race interview, Dickson said "It's been a rough season
up till
now, but this car worked like a dream tonight. I want thank Hassy
Chassis,
my brother for all his work, and tell my sponsors and the fans thanks
for
their support. It's meant alot".
39 drivers from 4 states attempted to qualify for the "Thunder
30", with 22
of the race's 24 starters were running at the end of the 30 lap event.
Qualifying heat race winner's were Dickson, Aukland, Adkins and Lovejoy.
J
P Roberts was the C-main winner, with Brian Willard winning the B-main.

Louie Krushansky wins AMRA Road Warrior Tour "Madness
in the Mountains 30"
Louie Krushansky became the first 2 time winner of the '05 Road
Warrior Tour
season, as the Morgantown, WV driver was the winner of the Madness
in the
Mountains 30" Friday night at the Beckley Motor Speedway.
The first ever appearance of the AMRA's travelling series saw JC Casto
and
Doug Henry leading the full 24 car field into the first turn.
Fourth starting Krushansky immediately cleared third starting Dave
Defibaugh, then dove low to make it a three wide drag race to be scored
the
leader at the end of lap 1.
Henry soon moved to second, with Defibaugh moving past Casto to run
third.
As the race leaders began to stretch their advantage, the battles
for
positions 5 through 10 were outstanding. Continuing their heat race
exploits, position changing and side by side racing raged the entire
30
laps.
Defibaugh found an opening below Henry near the half-way point to
take
second, but Krushansky had now built nearly a straightaway advantage.
With
the laps quickly ticking off, Defibaugh charged to close the gap to
a 3 car
lengths, but could get no closer, as Krushansky's 'Denzil Turner Excavating/
Dalton Lumber/ GRS chassis' victory increased his current AMRA Road
Warrior
Tour point lead. Defibaugh was once again strong with his runner-up
finish,
and Henry was solid with third place finish. BMS regular JC Casto
parlayed
his pole starting position into a fourth place finish, holding off
9th
starting and fast closing Mark Dickson, who rounded out the top 5.
6th through 10th were Bruce Dennis, Will Rowe, Andre Layfield, Tommy
Moore
and Kenny Johnson.
The AMRA Road Warrior Tour will again be in action at the Beckley
Motor
Speedway Saturday, August 16th.
The next stops on the '05 AMRA RWT series will be Friday, July 1st
for the
Skyline Speedway "Thunder 30" and Sunday, July 3rd at the
Tyler County
Speedway for the "Dickson Classic". These will be the final
2 events in the
Road Warrior Tour's "Triple Crown Challenge".

Andy Bond takes Midway's "Muskingum Valley Grocery 30"
AMRA Road Warrior
Tour event
Coolville, Ohio's Andy Bond became the 4th different winner in
as many 2005
Road Warrior Tour races, as the veteran driver bested a 45 car field,
winning the 'Muskingum Valley Grocery 30' at the Midway Speedway,
near
Crooksville, Ohio.
Starting 3rd in the 30 lap main, Bond pressured early race leader
Dave
Defibaugh from the get-go. Bond's familiarity with the tricky Midway
surface served him well, as he found the opening he needed to scoot
past
Defibaugh.
Soon afterwards, 2003 AMRA International series champ Corey Conley
and
current Road Warrior Tour point leader Louie Krushansky made their
way into
the top 3, and set their sights on leader Bond.
While the battle for the point heated up, 11th starting and 2002 AMRA
Intl.
champ Norman Aronhalt was grabbing attention with his steady march
to the
front.
Bond was just starting to feel pressure from Conley, when Krushansky
arrived. Forced to deal with Krushansky's challenge, Conley's attention
was
diverted from leader Bond to maintaining his runner-up spot. The closing
laps intense battle for 2nd allowed Bond to stretch his advantage
to 6 car
lengths at the checkered, as the popular 2nd generation driver brought
the
"Balzer's Frame Repair/Turner's One Stop/ # a10" to the
finish line ahead of
Conley, Krushansky, Aronhalt and Defibaugh. 6th through 10 were Sam
Lovejoy, Kevin Morehouse, Mark Banal, Jeremy Berwanger and Mark Luning.
Bond's win was worth $1000.00 and was his first ever Road Warrior
Tour
victory.
Krushansky's third place finsh was his 3rd in 4 Road Warrior Tour
races in
the '05 season, and strengthened his grip on the points lead.
The AMRA Road Warrior Tour will be back in action Friday June 17th,
in their
first ever appearance at the Beckley (WV) Motor Speedway, with running
of
the 'Madness in the Mountains 30'.

Attica Raceway Park in the AMRA's first visit to the nationally
known sprint track picking up his first Road Warrior Tour win of
the '05 season.
In a 30 lap event slowed only 4 times for cautions, the lead trio
held high court for the top spot throughout the event.
The start of the race saw Johnson blast into the lead with Greg
Beem in hot pursuit. Louie Krushansky, winner of the season's inaugeral
RWT race, quickly pressured Beem for the runner-up position, succeeding
in a pass for the position on lap 6. With Krushansky working the
bottom, and Johnson the extreme high line, the side by side battles
began on lap 8. From this time forward, the lead trio would be separated
by no more than a car length. Krushansky initially took the lead
on lap 11, only to see Johnson retake the spot on lap 14. As Krushanksy
and Johnson would swap the position again between laps 15 &
20, Beem lay in wait for his opportunity to lead. Beem would replace
Krushansky for the runner-up position on lap 21, and immediately
challenge race leader Johnson. Beem was best in turns 3 & 4,
with Johnson strongest in turns 1 & 2. This made for multiple
lead changes every lap. Unable to unseat Johnson from his choice
of line, Beem worked the low groove. As the race leaders worked
off the final turn, Beem made one last charge for the lead, but
Johnson's "Eddy Chiropractic/Liberty Truck Stop/ Throw'n Dirt"
# 1j lead by a half car length at the flag stand to the roaring
approval of the fans.
In post race interviews, Johnson said his choice of tire dictated
his always prefered high line. "I had to get to the top early.
I knew if there was a cushion left after the sprints ran, I had
a chance. I had a "D", and Greg bolted a harder tire on.
I knew he was really coming, and I was hanging on at the end"
Johnson said. The top 3 were presented trophies courtesy of 'Carthage
Auto Parts' of Cincinatti Ohio.

Greg Beem wins KC Raceway's AMRA Road Warrior Tour "Eye
Opener 30"
The local weather forecasters were totally surprised to hear a "tornado"
had "decimated a field" at the KC Raceway Saturday night.
The field was the AMRA Road Warrior Tour modifieds, and the tornado
was "the Xenia Tornado", Greg Beem.
Xenia, Ohio's Beem started his evening by lowering the existing
modified track record, besting the 44 car field that represented
4 states, then stormed his way to a front row starting position
by dominating the evenings opening heat race.
When the green flag waved on the feature, 2 time '05 KC feature
winner Doug Adkins blasted into the lead, with Beem parked on his
rear bumper. AMRA Road Warrior Tour point leader Louie Krushansky
stayed a close third as the first half of the feature ran caution
free.
With Adkins laying down lap times at near record pace, Beem made
his move with a brave outside pass on the frontstretch. The final
10 laps of the race saw Beem extend his lead with some nifty moves
in lapped traffic, and Krushansky's top 3 run end as his motor expired
with 3 laps left. Beem's Lazer Chassis # 33 cruised to the win nearly
a straightaway ahead of Adkins, with Dave McWilliams, Mike Long
and Benny Hickel made up the top 5. Dave Defibaugh, J R Nolan, Tommy
Moore, Jeff Houser (who transfered out of the C & B mains) and
Rob House rounded out the top 10, with 18 of the 24 starters finishing
the 30 lapper.
In his post race interview, the soft spoken Beem reflected on his
both enjoyable and successful weekend running with the Road Warrior
Tour, and recieved hugs and handshakes from both Adkins and McWilliams
as the 3 recieved trophies from Carthage Auto Parts.

5/13/05 Elkin's (WV) Motor Speedway - race #1
"Louie Krushansky wins AMRA Road Warrior Tour 'Spring Fling 30'."
Vaudeville entertainers always insisted that any act needed "the
big
finish". Although vaudeville has long since faded from America's
cultural
landscape, the AMRA modified's consistantly embrace this thinking
when
visiting the Elkin's (WV) Motor Speedway for their Road Warrior events,
and
Friday night's season kick-off for the 2005 Road Warrior Tour certainly
furthered this notion.
37 cars from 4 states were pared down through 4 qualifying heats,
a c and b
main in order to qualify for the 24 car starting field at WV's oldest
active
speedway.
When the green waved for the 30 lap main, Paul Wilmoth Jr worked the
middle
groove to gain the lead, with Louie Krushansky working just slightly
lower
on the track. A lap two multi-car accident eliminated defending AMRA
RWT
point champ Kenny Johnson and Doug Thompson, and was the predecessor
for a
26 lap green flag run that saw tremendous racing all through the pack.
While most of the fans were riveted to the race between leader Wilmoth
and
Krushansky, Dave Defibaugh and Dave Groves were locked in a high speed
struggle for third. Also notable were a pair of drivers who started
near
the very end of the 24 car car field. Deck Defibaugh started in the
21st
position after being the last car to transfer out of the b-main, and
Benny
Hickel took a provisional to start 22nd, but both would make their
presence
known before the checkered flag waved.
At the half way mark, Krushansky appeared to finally muster the speed
necessary to take the point, only to see Wilmoth move yet another
groove
higher and rim ride the cushion to regain a very slim advantage. While
it
the lead appeared to change every lap, Wilmoth continued to be scored
as the
leader. With the leaders racing each other so furiously, Defibaugh
and
Groves reeled the lead pair in to make it a 4 car battle with 10 laps
to go.
With the front 4 running 3 wide at times, and the tail running cars
about
to be overtaken by the leaders, everyone in attendance knew the stakes
had
just went higher. With 2 laps remaining, Wilmoth pushed all his chips
into
the table, as he made a daring 3 wide move in traffic that looked
to be the
clincher. Krushansky refused to give up, and dove to the bottom to
grab a
half car length lead. With the top 4 and just lapped cars all struggling
for the same real estate, the "big finish" occured. Wilmoth's
car failed
just as he passed under the white flag, and the ensuing scramble caught
up
Dave Defibaugh as he and Wilmoth's locked cars ground to a stop in
turn 1.
The final caution tightened the for a 2 lap banzai run to the checkered
flag. Krushansky's "Dalton Lumber/ GRS Chassis" #23 turned
away Groves best
effort and went on to collect the $1000.00 top prize in a popular
win.
In his post race interview, the Morgantown, WV driver credited his
crew for
the win, and said how much he enjoyed the clean and close racing he
and
Wilmoth exhibited the entire 30 laps.
Joining "Lucky Louie" for the presentation of the Carthage
Auto Parts top 3
finishers trophies were 2nd finishing Groves, and hard charging Tommy
Moore
who came from the 12th starting spot.
Phil Jeffries, Tim Riley, Deck Defibaugh, JR Nolan, Andre Layfield,
Hickel
and Robert Garnes completed the top 10 in a race that saw only 1 car
lapped,
and 17 of the original 24 cars finish.
The AMRA Road Warrior Tour is next in action Friday, May 20th at the
Attica
(Oh) Speedway and will move south the following evening to the KC
(Oh)
Raceway.
