Dec 27 2009 - RTR signs; Eleventh sanction of 2010 for AMRA

ROCKY TOP RACEWAY SIGNS ON WITH AMRA
By Scott Wolfe
MT. ALTO, WV-The American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) has announced the signing of its eleventh track for the 2010 racing season. Rocky Top Raceway has signed a multi-year agreement with the AMRA that will see the RTR Modified class AMRA sanctioned through 2012.  This agreement will now make Modified drivers at RTR eligible for over $33,000-plus in point’s fund money and thousands of more dollars in contingency awards.
It also marks four states in the Mid-Atlantic region that are under the arm of the AMRA. Sanctioning Late Models and Modifieds as it premier divisions, the AMRA continues its rebirth and its commitment to excellence as 2010 approaches.
“This is truly an exciting time in AMRA history,” exclaimed AMRA President Larry Keefer. “I can’t wait  for the 2010 season to get here.  It is going to be a great year for our AMRA member tracks, drivers, and fans. I’m anxiously looking forward to it.”
“All of us at RTR are very excited to be part of the AMRA once again”, stated RTR promoter T. J. Layne.  “The AMRA is doing great things for the Modified class and we feel it is very important to have RTR a part of it.  We believe our drivers will benefit greatly from the point’s fund and believe our fans will benefit from this agreement as well. We should see increased car counts and greater  opportunity for our fans to see many of the AMRA’s best drivers.”
“The AMRA is very enthused about signing Rocky Top as a weekly track.”, stated Keefer.  “Rocky Top Raceway has a great field of modifieds that compete in the Tri-State area. We are glad that Rocky Top chose to let those drivers contend for the AMRA point money."
"We haven't stopped at eleven. We are actively looking for more tracks to join the AMRA," said Keefer. "The AMRA has a proven product and a proven track record.  2010 will be an exciting year and with Rocky Top on board it will make it even more exciting."
Keefer also noted the signing of Rocky Top to AMRA gives drivers in the area a chance to run at Rocky Top on Friday and K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio, who recently signed with AMRA, on Saturdays.  Likewise, K-C drivers can compete at RTR or Skyline Speedway, both within driving distance of K-C.  Drivers east of Rocky Top have any number of Saturday night AMRA sanctioned tracks to choose from.
"Signing Rocky Top has filled a void in Southern Ohio that can be very beneficial to those drivers. This should be a winning venture for RTR, the AMRA, and all of its drivers and fans."
The AMRA has announced an explanation of awarded points. Only the best 20 AMRA finishes will count in the National point’s championship.  Drivers can receive AMRA points at any of the 11 AMRA sanctioned tracks. Those tracks include Rocky Top, Skyline Speedway, Elkins Speedway, I-77 Motorsports Park, Eastside Speedway, Potomac Speedway, Beckley Motor Speedway, K-C Raceway, Charleston Speedway, Ohio Valley Speedway, and Tyler County Speedway.
Rocky Top Raceway would also like to welcome Hoosier Racing Tire, Hoosier Racing Tire Ohio Valley, and Dave Poske’s Performance Parts as the newest track sponsors.  Hoosier Racing Tire will now be the official tire of Rocky Top Raceway.  Please visit www.hoosiertire.com and www.poske.com to learn more about these great sponsors.
“We are thrilled to have Hoosier/Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley and Poske’s Performance Parts on board as sponsors”, stated T. J. Layne.  “Hoosier has the reputation of building the best tires in the industry and Mr. Poske has done a ton to promote racing in our region.  It’s great to have great companies and great people like these associated with the track.”
The AMRA would like to thank all of its members, sponsors, tracks, and race partners for a successful 2009 season.  A 2010 Road Warrior Challenge schedule is in the works and should be completed soon.
